School reading project – “The Deluge”

What is it about?
The project is an innovative editorial edition of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s “Potop” (The Deluge), aimed at making a challenging school classic more accessible. The publication features a user-friendly visual layer, including illustrations that aid character memorization and maps that provide topographical context. The modern text structure incorporates chapter subheadings, highlighted key quotes, and separated footnotes, allowing quick navigation. The project is complemented by a mobile version featuring audio recordings and visual materials, creating a multi-channel educational tool tailored to the needs of contemporary students preparing for their final exams.

Why was it created and for whom?
The project was created for high school students who often feel overwhelmed by the archaic language and the sheer volume of literary classics. The goal was to design a book that supports independent home study while remaining functional during school lessons. It addresses common issues such as a lack of reading time and the visual barrier of dense text. By introducing elements that simplify searching for specific passages and visualizing difficult contexts, the project aims to increase the engagement of young readers and prove that classical literature can be presented in an accessible, modern form.
