BAJA

What is it about?
BAJA is an original seesaw designed for the “Praga” Cultural Center for the Stalowa Street Festival in Warsaw. Its form is inspired by the landscape of the Praga district: metal grates, bollards, and its characteristic colour palette. The most recognizable feature is the set of movable beads, which generate visual and acoustic effects while in motion. Thanks to its rounded base protected by steel runners, the object is mobile and does not require ground mounting, which ensures both durability and safety in urban spaces.

Why was it created and for whom?
The project was created for festival participants of all ages as a creative alternative to traditional benches. The primary goal was to create a tool for building relationships – the seesaw’s design necessitates cooperation to achieve a state of balance. BAJA aims to foster interpersonal and intergenerational bonds through shared play. It is an object that combines relaxation with active engagement in local community life, encouraging people to work “side by side.”
