dkf magazine

What is it about?
The project consists of the graphic design for an illustrated monthly magazine dedicated to the history and contemporary state of Polish cinema. The content is based on archival articles from Kwartalnik Filmowy, juxtaposed with original illustrations and photographs. A key structural element is the flexible modular grid, which ensures column consistency and high readability while allowing for free layout composition. The magazine is distinguished by a limited palette of six colors (changing with each issue) and consistent cover elements: a characteristic frame and a custom-designed logo. The 17.5 x 22 cm prototype consists of 84 pages and is printed on eco-friendly, FSC-certified uncoated paper.

Why was it created and for whom?
The publication was created for cinephiles and cultural researchers who value high editorial quality and a unique approach to Polish film history. The goal of the project was to give archival, often hermetic content a new, visually appealing form. The manual stitching and gluing of the prototype emphasize the project’s artisanal character and respect for publishing traditions. By combining the rigor of the grid with expressive illustration, the magazine aims to serve as a platform linking classic film theory with modern design, creating an object of collectible value.
