INDIVIDUAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT PLAN

What is it about?
The projectis an original initiative involving the redesign of the printable ICDP (Individual Career Development Plan) tool, used in the Design Management course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. The original, text-heavy format of the multi-page document has been replaced with a new structure designed to facilitate navigation through the career planning process and encourage interaction. In the context of the “Cycles” theme, the project addresses the repetitive nature of education and development: the process of competency mapping is not a one-time event but rather an ongoing cycle of revisiting, evaluation, and professional transformation in response to a dynamic labour market.

Why was it created and for whom?
The project was created for design students and active designers for whom traditional planning sheets were a barrier rather than a support. The goal was to “re-enchant” the tedious process of self-diagnosis by giving it a user-friendly, design-oriented form. Already implemented into the didactic process, the initiative helps in consciously building a career path and managing one’s own potential. By transforming a dry document into an attractive tool, the project supports a healthy approach to professional development —turning a chore into an engaging ritual of planning for the future, which is crucial in the rapidly changing creative industry.
