“Nord” – a magazine about Norway and the Norwegian language for the whole family

What is it about?
“NORD” is an original family magazine dedicated to Norwegian culture, history, and language learning. The publication combines reportage and articles with educational elements, such as tear-out flashcards and colouring pages for children. The visual design is based on bold, legible typography and repetitive graphic forms that unify the magazine’s diverse sections. The theme of “Cycles” manifests here in two dimensions: through references to Scandinavian nature (the rhythm of the seasons and the cycle of day and night) and as a metaphor for language learning. This process, based on the constant repetition of vocabulary and grammar, is reflected in the cyclical layout of content and the interplay of colours throughout the publication’s structure.

Why was it created and for whom?
The project was born out of a passion for Norway, designed for families who wish to explore Northern culture together. The goal of “NORD” is to popularize the Norwegian language and create a space for intergenerational quality time. The magazine encourages the pursuit of knowledge from an early age, promoting Scandinavian values of respect for nature and the celebration of daily rituals. By combining substantive texts with play, the magazine “re-enchants” foreign language learning, turning it into a fascinating cycle of discovery that engages both children and adults while building their cultural and aesthetic sensitivity.
