What is it about?
Inspired by the shoegaze genre and Miloš Hroch’s Šeptej nahlas, this project explores the ideology of introspection through DIY sound technology. It moves away from technical perfection toward the raw “feeling” of sound, treating instruments as carriers of emotion. The project features two custom-built tools: an oscillator for organic signal modulation and a melodic instrument for emotional layering. In the context of “Cycles,” the design reflects the repetitive feedback and resonance loops inherent in shoegaze. Here, sound is not static; it exists in a continuous cycle of evolution through lived experience, where the physical material and the generated signal create a space for internal reflection and experimental authenticity.

Why and for whom was it created?
The project was created for sound artists, DIY enthusiasts, and fans of shoegaze who value authenticity over refined construction. Its purpose is to demonstrate that musical tools can be deeply personal spaces for reflection rather than just technical equipment. By focusing on the sensory qualities of noise and modulation, the work encourages users to embrace experimentation as a path to genuine expression. It addresses a need for instruments that prioritize the internal experience of the creator, allowing the audience to engage with sound as a rhythmic, cyclic process of self-discovery—one where the imperfections of the DIY process become the most valuable elements of the composition.
