“Odzysk” magazine design

What is it about?
“Odzysk” (Reclaim/Salvage) is a magazine dedicated to social inequality, ecology, and labor solidarity, featuring texts by Hubert Walczyński. The project takes the form of an independent zine (“samizdat”), printed on recycled waste paper using a photocopier rescued from a rubbish bin. The publication is characterized by a raw aesthetic, complemented by original Xerox collages and a unique binding made from diffusion film recovered from discarded LCD screens. The project was developed at the Editorial Design Studio at UAP in Poznań as an experiment with alternative forms of distribution and production.

Why was it created and for whom?
The magazine was created for readers interested in sustainable economics and grassroots social initiatives. The title “Odzysk” (Reclaim) refers both to the recycling of materials and the reclaiming of agency by labor communities. The goal was to create an object that legitimises its content through its production process (the use of an old photocopier and reclaimed materials). For the author, the project also served as an exploration of reproduction techniques and a simulation of independent distribution, which promotes egalitarian access to knowledge and an engaged social stance.
