What is it about?

The project is a contemporary editorial design of Juliusz Słowacki’s drama, featuring a Swiss binding and a minimalist aesthetics based on intense red. The colour palette symbolizes both blood and raspberries, creating a visual narrative axis of the crime story. A distinctive element is the thickening lines at the end of each act, which graphically depict the mounting narrative tension. The cover, featuring a pitcher-shaped cutout and a lightning bolt illustration, creates a symbolic “crack,” marking the heroine’s moment of irreversible transformation.

Why was it created and for whom?

The publication was created for a conscious reader of classical literature seeking new visual interpretations of the text. In the context of the theme “Cycles,” the project aims to portray the inevitable cycle of guilt and punishment, as well as the contrast between the linear progression of events and the unchanging order of nature. The goal was to create a book object where typography and graphic form become an integral part of the drama, deepening the emotional reception of Słowacki’s work.
