a/z magazine

What is it about?
The project is an original travel and culture publication in A3 format, focusing on discovering places through their social and climatic contexts. Designed with the concept of cyclicity in mind, the publication is based on a unique structure: each issue juxtaposes two contrasting destinations that “collide” in the center of the magazine. The publication uses uncoated, wood-free paper with high whiteness, ensuring excellent readability of the colourful typography and illustrations while maintaining environmental standards. Across 48 pages, images and text create a multi-layered narrative about the world’s diversity.

Why was it created and for whom?
The magazine was created for conscious travellers who seek comprehensive cultural analysis of the places they visit instead of traditional guidebooks. The goal of the project is to encourage respectful exploration of the world by highlighting geographical and cultural differences. Juxtaposing distinct regions (e.g., in terms of extreme atmospheric conditions) allows the reader to better understand the uniqueness of each culture. The project promotes the idea of mindful travel, where understanding the local context becomes more important than simply ticking off tourist attractions.
