Green Coexistence
Description
The aim of the project is to raise awareness about two forms of urban gardening present in the Polish landscape – allotment gardens and community gardens. The publication shows the similarities between the two, focusing on their DIY culture and community-building aspect.
The first and the most important step in the project was the underlying research. The author collected information on the history and present shape of both types of gardens, focusing on the two cities she had lived in: Warsaw and Poznań.
The demographics is very broad since the project focuses on community building. People participating in creating community gardens, users of allotment gardens and all people interested in the topic are a diverse group that goes beyond generation divisions.
The author based the design on her hand-painted illustrations made
with gouache, and then proceeded with using Photoshop (illustration) and InDesign (layout).
