Yaroslava Onokhina is a visual artist and designer who combines a friendly aesthetic with clear storytelling. In her practice, she is guided by empathy and a design approach rooted in functionality and the needs of the audience. She is interested in slow design, accessible design, and in creating solutions that enhance comfort and clarity in visual communication, without sacrificing the emotional dimension of the message.

Creating a Welcoming Student Guide: Between Legibility and Emotion

Using the example of a Graphic Design Faculty welcome guide for Erasmus students, I would like to reflect on how we practice Design for Need, or people-oriented design, today. The aim was to create an affordable, minimalistic, and legible guide that would also remain human and personal. I will briefly present the final concept, explain how functional constraints shaped its visual form, and outline areas for future development.
