The Cycle of Doom of State Design – how does design’s reputation make you wait longer for a doctor appointment?
“A waste of our money.”
“Boring!”
“Not even relatable…”
Design is perceived as something no state entities should invest in. But why?
I will talk about how state design almost took off, but never quite got there. About Costa Rica’s design beating that of most rich, western countries. About Estonia and the Netherlands as leaders in state design, with each of them somehow better than the other. And about how the internet is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the visual communication of states.
